Rainier

I watched you, Mountain,
disappear beyond hill-bound horizon.
Gone as quickly as yourself revealed,
like a ghost
whose vapor shrouds in-held glory
and all at once,
vanishes.

Lost now, but your hopeful imprint
on my heart lingers.
Lingers, just as her smile rests on my own lips.
That gentle curve held now like fading hope,
since the moment
when last she graced my gaze.
